Avoid getting jewelry wet
Remove your jewelry before you shower, bathe, wash your hands (for rings & bracelets), exercise or swim.
Remove jewelry before applying perfume or lotion
Gold is known to be impervious to the chemicals in perfumes and lotions. Allow lotion and perfume to dry before putting jewelry on.
Store in a dry place
Store your jewelry in a dry place, preferably a jewelry box or zip lock back to keep from oxidizing. Do not store in the bathroom as there can be quite a lot of moisture in the air.

Gold Fill, Gold Vermeil, Gold Plated & Silver Plated Jewelry
To clean your plated, vermeil or gold fill jewelry use a damp soft microfiber cloth or jewelry cloth and lightly wipe down the jewelry. Dry thoroughly before storing.
If there is oil or dirt residue, or it has come in contact with alcohol, chlorine or a type of acid, make a mild soap solution, a few drops of mild soap in a cup of warm water. Allow jewelry to soak for 10 minutes. Use a Q-tip to clean smaller, hard to reach areas. Dry thoroughly with a soft microfiber cloth before storing.
If jewelry has stones, or enamel pieces, do not soak in solution, instead use mild soap solution and a Q-tip or cotton ball to clean the metal. Soaking in soapy solution could degrade the glue of where stones are placed and loosen them.
Please note, that not all gold-plated items are the same. Some have thicker plating than others, and some base-metals are higher quality than others. If plating has worn off, you can usually get the item re-plated at a jeweler.
Solid 925 Silver Jewelry
When solid 925 silver jewelry starts to lose its lustre, it’s typically due to a process called oxidization, which is a natural occurrence that can happen when your jewelry is exposed to oxygen, humidity and water. The best way to get your jewelry back to its original lustre is to get a silver polish or silver cleaning solution and follow its instructions. Other ways to remove oxidization are to use a silver polishing cloth. If jewelry has stones or enamel, it is best not to soak the jewelry and instead apply with a q-tip or cotton ball to the metal directly.
Thouroughly dry jewelry before storing.
